pioneer class

Features/Overview

The Pioneer Class Drilling Systems are totally integrated packages providing either a mono-directional (X axis) or bi-directional (X and Y axis) skidding system.  The mono-directional system is designed to skid in a single plane up to 120 feet forward or backward from one well to other wells on the drilling pad.  The bi-directional system is engineered to move on both the X- and Y- axes and allows the operator to drill in two rows in a producing-while-drilling well program.  Both systems eliminate the need for multiple rig moves where time and space are critical and can be skidded with a full setback.  During the skidding operation, the rig power, control, steam/water and air lines are easily managed by an integrated festoon cabling system.  The Pioneer Class is designed around a box-on-box substructure with drill a floor height of 23 feet for the mono-directional system and 27 feet for the bi-directional system.  Each has an integrated BOP trolley and handling system.  Both designs are available with 300, 375 and 500 ton hook load capacities and are capable of operating in temperatures down to -45*C.  Top drive and iron roughneck systems can be employed with all models.

The Pioneer Class Drilling System employs state of the art technology offering better control over the entire drilling process.  The complete power and control system features proprietary variable frequency AC drives designed, assembled and integrated by Global Energy Services.  Drives rated 1200, 1600 and 2000 horsepower are available, and when combined with the GES Automated Driller’s Cabin, issues encountered with multi-sourced product integration are eliminated.  The high-efficiency AC drawworks has no chains, sprockets, clutches or water-cooled brakes.  Braking is provided by AC traction motor regeneration.
