Features/Overview
The Frontier Class Drilling Systems are totally integrated packages providing
proven AC technology combined with beam leg cantilever masts and self-elevating
substructures. Each system can be adapted to incorporate a desert rig
moving system or pad drilling skid system allowing operators to move the rig
while fully elevated over difficult terrain, greatly reducing mobilization
time. The designs are available in 375, 500 and 650 ton hook load capacities
and are capable of operating in temperatures up to 131*F (55*C). The
Frontier Class is designed around beam leg cantilever masts with heights of
147 or 152 feet and self-elevating type substructures with drill floor heights
of 30 feet and clear working heights of 26.5 feet. Top drive and iron
roughneck systems can be employed with all models.
The Frontier Class Drilling System employs state of the art technology offering
better control over the entire drilling process. The complete power and control
system features proprietary variable frequency AC drives designed, assembled
and integrated by Global Energy Services. Drives rated 1600, 2000 and horsepower
are available, and when combined with the GES Automated Driller’s Cabin,
issues encountered with multi-sourced product integration are eliminated. The
high-efficiency AC drawworks has no chains, sprockets, clutches or water-cooled
brakes. Braking is provided by AC traction motor regeneration
