Board of Directors and Officers




Byron A. Dunn - President, Chief Executive Officer and Director
Mr. Dunn has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of GES Global Energy Services since December 2007. From September 2005 to December 2007, Mr. Dunn served as Senior Vice President of Harvest Natural Resources, MD Of Harvest’s Moscow based Russian subsidiary and Chairman of Harvest’s Joint Venture with CNOOC.  He previously served on Harvest's Board of Directors and as a member of its Audit and Compensation committees. From 2003 through 2005, Mr. Dunn was Vice President, Corporate Development with National Oilwell, Inc. serving as President of Eastern Hemisphere Rig Solutions and as Chairman of the Board of TTS Marine ASA, a Bergen Norway ships’ equipment manufacturer. He chaired the National Oilwell/Varco integration team. From 1997 to 2003, Mr. Dunn held increasingly responsible roles in the UBS Global Energy and Power Group, serving as Oilfield Service Research Global Sector Coordinator and later as an Executive Director of the Investment Banking Group.  Earlier in his career, Mr. Dunn was Manager of Upstream Business Development and Acquisitions for Phibro Energy. He began his career with Chevron USA from 1980 until 1984 as Drilling Engineer in the Gulf of Mexico, later becoming Eastern Region Production Coordinator.  Mr. Dunn is a Director of Arabian Energy Services (Kuwait).

Mr. Dunn is a 1980 graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology with a BS Chemical Engineering and earned an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1986.

 

Michael L. Stansberry - Chief Operations Officer
Mr. Stansberry has served as Chief Operating Officer of GES Global Energy Services since November 2008.  From July 2004 until November 2008 he was Chairman, President and CEO of Energy Services International, an oilfield services company he co-founded.  Mr. Stansberry has over thirty years of experience in the energy industry.  He previously served as President and CEO of T3 Energy Services, a Nasdaq listed company he co-founded, President and CEO of Continental Emsco, a manufacturer and distributor of drilling equipment and supplies, and as President of Enterra Oilfield Rental, a rental and fishing tool company with operations in over twenty countries.

Mr. Stansberry received a BBA and MBA from the University of Oklahoma and served as an officer in the United States Army.

 

Chris Ruffner - Chief Financial Officer

 

Daniel R. Carter - General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer
Mr. Carter began working with GES Global Energy Services in November 2008 and joined as its General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer in September 2009. He has significant oil and gas experience in both legal and operational management roles. Mr. Carter began his career with Transco Energy in 1982 where he spent 13 years in various upstream and downstream engineering roles with the last 4 years spent as corporate counsel. After 3 years in private practice, Mr. Carter joined NATCO Group as its Chief Legal Officer in 1998. He left NATCO after a decade of achievement culminating with the construction, relocation, and outfitting of NATCO's new corporate headquarters.

Mr. Carter, a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with degrees in Political Science and Chemical Engineering, received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 1991. He is a registered Professional Engineer (Texas) and a Martindale-Hubbell® AV-rated attorney.

 

Thomas R. Bates, Jr. - Director
Mr. Bates joined Lime Rock as a Managing Director in 2001. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bates had 25 years of experience in energy management and operations. He served from 1998 through 2000 as President of the Discovery Group of Baker Hughes and was responsible for the integration of Western Atlas into Baker Hughes. Earlier, he served as President and CEO of Weatherford Enterra. Previously, Mr. Bates spent 15 years with Schlumberger in both domestic and international locations. Mr. Bates began his career with Shell Oil Company. He was a recipient of the 1995 University of Houston/American Society of Engineers Offshore Technology Conference Award for outstanding leadership and citizenship.

Mr. Bates is a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.S.E., M.S.E., Ph.D.) with degrees in mechanical engineering.

Since joining the Lime Rock Partners team, Mr. Bates has led the sourcing and execution of energy service investment opportunities in North America and internationally. Based in Houston, Mr. Bates serves on the board of directors of Hercules Offshore, GES Global Energy Services, Iracore International, NATCO Group, Reservoir Exploration Technology, T-3 Energy Services, vMonitor, and AtBalance Americas. He previously served on the boards of directors of NQL Energy Services, Patriot Drilling, Reservation Exploration Technology, Crescendo Resources, and Rotary Steerable Tools.

 

Jack William Franklin, Jr. - Director
Mr. Franklin joined the Lime Rock Partners team in 2003 was named a Managing Director in 2008. Currently based in Houston, Mr. Franklin has worked in the firm’s Houston, Calgary, and Westport locations and has a played a leadership role in the firm’s investment efforts in the energy service and E&P sectors in North America and internationally. Before joining Lime Rock, he had experience in private equity, energy company operations, and energy finance at Riverstone Holdings, Simmons & Company, and Parker & Parsley Petroleum Company.

Mr. Franklin is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (B.A., B.B.A.) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A).

Mr. Franklin currently serves on the board of directors of GES Global Energy Services and PDC Mountaineer. He previously served on the board of directors of Hercules Offshore, Marauder Resources, and Slate River Resources.

 

Tighe A. Noonan - Director
Mr. Noonan is a Partner of 4D Global Energy Advisors. He has been continuously involved in energy finance since 1982. After 14 years of experience in commercial and investment banking with the Barclays Group (BZW) in New York and Paris, notably in the energy sector, he joined Société Générale in 1995 where he was Managing Director, Head of Oil and Gas Project Finance.

Following studies at Swarthmore College (USA), Mr Noonan received an advanced degree in economics & finance from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques from the University of Grenoble (France). He speaks fluent English and French and working Italian.

As a Partner, he is a director of GES Global Energy Services Drilling and Finoil.
